As in the original Golden Globe Race of 1968, no stops or outside assistance are permitted. The competitors are on their own for more than 9 months, with their boats and the elements they may encounter.
GGR 2022
GGR 2022 officially starts at 1300hrs on 4 September 2022 from Les Sables d'Olonne, and then proceeds to cirumnavigate the globe, non-stop via the three Great Capes, through the Southern Ocean, before returning to Les Sables d'Olonne in the summer of 2023.
In tribute to the origins of the event there will be feeder race from a UK port to the host port of Les Sables d'Olonne in France, starting from the UK port in August 2022.
